Ruler Work and Free Motion Quilting

I think I will sketch out a different design for each block. This is going to be FUN!

Later......

Below is the sketch for the first blog and progress on two blocks.

Ruler work and free motion

I think the first block on the quilt will include both ruler work and free motion.  Here is a VERY rough first draft of what I may do.

Ruler Work

I'm going to plan different ruler work designs for each block!

Lynda's Quilt

It's done and it is a BEAUTY!!
Doesn't the back look cool?  As mentioned previously, Lynda's quilt has an ocean theme and I think the backing she chose is PERFECT!!
Bravo Lynda!!

Frivols - Store Sample Day

Today I'm working on a sample for Beginnings Quilt Shop in Hendersonville, NC.

The name of the small quilt I'm working on is Faithful. It's made up of 16 blocks that finish at 5" x 5". It has a scrap-pieced inner border that finishes at 1 1/8" and a pieced outer border the finishes at 1 3/4".   The finished size of the quilt is 25 3/4" by 25 3/4."

I love minis!!

Lynda's Quilt

It's halfway done and I'm so pleased with the way it is turning out!

Lynda's quilt is next

This beautiful quilt was pieced by one of my weaving buddies.  The rich blues mimic the colors of the ocean which was Lynda's intent.  I'm going to quilt it with whirls and swirls to mimic ocean waves furthering the ocean theme.

Lisa Calle Class

I worked at the quilt shop yesterday and will again today. BUT, TOMORROW, I'm taking an all day class being taught by Lisa Calle.  I'm so excited.   She will be teaching ruler work.

Here is a photo of her drawn up plan for a block.  Below that is an example of her longarm  quilting.

Isn't this a pretty batik baby quilt?
The quilting panto used is called Allium.

Wedding Blocks Are Ready!

All of the white squares have been backed with freezer paper for the wedding (and subsequent quilt) for Leanne's and Danny's wedding on Saturday. I've got the pattern picked out but still have to choose the colors for the other blocks!  I'm looking forward to going to my old stomping grounds! Haven't been back there for a little over 20 years!

Oh, the wedding guests will be adding sentiments on the blocks.
Rather than drawing  lines on ALL  the squares (so that guests don't accidentally write in the seam allowances) I made cardstock frames into which blocks are placed to delineate writing area **fingers crossed**

Cathy's Quilt

Lots of gorgeous batiks in this quilt!
Cathy chose an overall design - SeaFoam (minus the bubbles).
If you could see the back of her quilt you'd know why she chose waves! The back is a beautiful shade of Caribbean Sea blue.

Patiently Waiting for Pantographs

I'm patiently-ISH waiting for Daryl, our UPS fellow, to get here!! According to tracking, I am getting SIX new pantograms today - many of which have been requested by customers.
They are:
Sea Foam (2 customers requested this to be done without all the bubbles), Butterfly Charm, Puppy Paws, Allium, Fern Gully, and Sol.

Modern Baby Quilt

Merrie creates the coolest modern baby quilts and she does a FANTASTIC piecing job!

For this quilt, she requested an all over meander in blue.

Adorable Baby Quilt

This morning I worked at the Western NC  Mountain Fair helping with the judging of handwoven and felted pieces.

Afterwards I "worked" on this adorable baby quilt.  I LOVE the colors.  The piecer (hmmmm is that really a word? It looks odd!!) of the quilt requested a bubble-ish quilt pattern to complement the circles in the fabric.

Gorgeous quilt on and off Lenni (my Longarm)

I had so much fun working on this quilt today. Here's a picture of the front of the quilt all finished except for the binding.

Also, check out this view of the back of the quilt. The photo of the back really messes with my eyes! Sometimes the flowers appear puffy and sometimes the flowers look recessed.
Can you see it both ways? Weird!

On the Longarm...

Longarm & Featherweight

I work tomorrow at Beginnings Quilt Shop BUT on Sunday and Monday you'll find me happily stitching on both my Longarm (I will show you my latest customer quilt when it is loaded on my machine) and my Featherweight (Halloween pillowcases for some special little ones - Mario and Carolena coming up)!
This fabric is COOL. The ghosts glow in the dark!

T-shirt Quilt

Today I have the pleasure of quilting this t-shirt quilt.  I'm using an e2e music themed panto.

I truly believe that handmade quilts and afghans offer comfort.  I hope this one brings sweet comfort to my customer's daughter!! :)
